Laser hair removal is an increasing popular cosmetic treatment that is safe and effective. This treatment involves using a laser to damage individual hair follicles, prohibiting hair growth. A variety of areas can be treated with laser hair removal, including the armpits, chest, stomach, legs, and bikini area. Depending on your skin type and hair color, you may need to undergo multiple treatments to achieve the best results.
- Technological Advances Have Improved Laser Hair Removal
You may have heard that laser hair removal is only appropriate for those with pale skin and dark hair. However, many different lasers have been developed in recent years that are effective for individuals with dark skin, as well as for individuals with light hair. Be sure to ask your laser technician about which laser treatment will be best for your skin and hair types.
- Laser Hair Removal Can Eliminate Ingrown Hairs
Shaving and waxing can cause hairs to break and become trapped inside the hair follicle. This can cause hairs to grow sideways or back into the skin, which usually results in ingrown hairs. Laser hair removal disables the root of the follicle, stunting growth so that no hairs are present to become ingrown. Ingrown hairs generally appear on the face, legs, and bikini area, so talk to your laser hair removal specialist about having these areas treated.
- Recovery After Laser Hair Removal is Fast
While laser hair removal treatment is completely safe for the elimination of unwanted hair, the treatment may result in short-term skin irritation. This irritation may include a mild burning sensation and light peeling after the treatment is complete. However, any irritation should fade quickly, allowing you to enjoy all of the benefits of smoother skin in a short amount of time.
